DeGroot Pleads Not Guilty

Posted: Updated:
The man accused of setting fire to a Bismarck military recruiting office pleaded not guilty to arson and giving law enforcement false information.

Anthony DeGroot, 29, claims he was hit on the head and subdued by duct tape on the night of Dec. 26, 2013 when the building was set on fire.

The prosecution called ATF fire investigator Derek Hill to the stand. Hill testified it's not plausible anyone else besides DeGroot was in the building that night. DeGroot faces up to 11 years in prison and fines if he's found guilty.

No trial date has been set.
