Foundation Grants Family Disney Trip

Posted: Updated:

It's not everyday you see someone get dropped off at the airport in a limo.

But inside a limo early Saturday morning at Minot International Airport were some very special guests. Four-year-old Blake Stack and his family are headed somewhere warmer.

The North Dakota chapter of the Make a Wish foundation is sponsoring a trip to Disney World for Blake, who has Sanfilippo syndrome, a metabolism disorder that affects behavior and development.

Young Blake may be few with words, but his mother Ashley is happy that her son can have some quality fun.

"It's really exciting. We don't leave the house a lot with his condition. He does, has difficult time going out in public," says Blake's Mom. "So, we're taking him out on this trip, probably the only chance he'll have to take a trip away from doctors and medical appointments and really just enjoy being a kid."

As it turns out, this is not the first time the group has taken such a trip, as Blake shares his condition with another member of the family.

"Actually, our older son Landon went on a Make A Wish trip in 2011," his mom said.

Blake is traveling with his mom, his stepfather Jordan, and his father Shawn, who couldn't be more grateful for the trip.

"Extremely grateful," says Shawn. "I mean, words cannot even describe, you know, how much we as a family appreciate everything that they've done for us, not only with Blake's trip but also with Landon's," he says.

Rest assured, Blake and his family will return to the cold of North Dakota, but for now they're going to spend a little time in the sun with Mickey and Minnie.

Blake's wish came true, but there are many children with stories like his.
