The Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration announced it will implement new safety practices for moving oil by rail.

Department of Defense secretary Anthony Foxx says the enhanced safety measures will include increasing tack inspections, reducing speeds, improving break systems and other technology to determine the safest routes for trains with more than 20 cars of crude oil.
