Library Teams With Council To Encourage Reading

Posted: Updated:

It's reading month in North Dakota and staff at the Bismarck Public Library teamed up with the South Central Reading Council to get more people reading.

They're starting with young readers by hosting an event called Reading Is Music To Our Ears local bands, musical trios and choirs will all perform while books are read. Show the unique connection between music and reading. If your little ones can't read yet, the library has that covered.

"We have some special storytellers, Mrs. Sparkles is going to be doing a story time with her puppet friends. Mother goose is going to be coming back for a performance, and we have special guest of Mama and Papa Bear of the Bearstine Bears who are going to be here. So, we've got some really exciting stuff happening," says Traci Juhla, Bismarck Public Library.

The event goes from 11 a.m. until 3p.m., there's no cost and attendees are encouraged to bring a lunch.
