District Votes On Nedrose Bond

Posted: Updated:

It looks to be a restless evening for the staff at Nedrose School.

The school district is holding their vote for an $18 million bond issue that will address over-crowding in their classrooms. The plan is to construct a new middle and high school building that would be located near the upcoming 55th Street Housing Development.

Currently, Nedrose has 310 students enrolled at their school, that's about 50 students over the building's capacity.

"We'd sure like everybody to come by, especially those people that have a direct stake in this.  The ones who have children in the district. It's very critical for those parents that have kids that are attending Nedrose to take part and let us know what they are thinking," says Superintendent Chuck Miller.

Right now, Nedrose School pays tuition to send students to Minot and Surrey High Schools.  In 2012, the School District paid close to $900,000 in tuition fees.

A 60 percent or greater approval is needed to pass today's bond issue. Voting is open until 8 p.m. tonight. We'll have an unofficial look at the results coming up at 10.
