Degenstein Presents For City Manager Race

Posted: Updated:

The second candidate for Minot's next city manager spoke today at the Grand Hotel to share a little more about himself and his background. He also presented on the topic how to manage city growth in an economic boom.

Candidate Kevin Degenstein was born and raised in the Magic City. He earned his Civil Engineering degree from North Dakota State University in 1982. He's had more than 28-years of experience working at oil and energy utility companies, in the private sector, in both Illinois and Montana. And he's most recently served as president and chief operating officer at Gas Natural Inc.

"I've always believed you need to work with people, treat them with dignity and respect. I may work with these individuals today, they may work for me, but Dave, I may work for him tomorrow, and if I'm working with the man who's working with me today, I want to be treated the same way he's going to treat me and that's with dignity and respect," says Degenstein.

If selected as the next city manager, Degenstein would focus attention on growth management, communication, budgets and management operations and resources.

"Times are tough," says Degenstein. "Minot went through a difficult flood, but you got to step back and we accomplished something today.  You got to smile and say, I had fun. It was hard, but I had fun."

The third candidate for city manager will speak tomorrow at the Grand Hotel starting at 11:30 a.m. All three of the public presentations will be available Friday afternoon to watch on the city's website at www.minotnd.org.
