Superior Silk Screen Goes Green

Posted: Updated:

Passing airplanes could see it and so could Google satellites. And today, Superior Silk screen said goodbye to its large roof sign and opted to go green.

The company covered its sign with Tommy the T-shirt and large letters with a new five-star energy efficient roof. The owner says the project was costly, but he's hoping to get money back using rebates for energy efficient roofing.

"It's an energy star rated roof. One of the few in the country. We opted for a little additional insulation. They take  it and go over the existing steel with a foam that reverse corrugates to the corrugation and metal that the roof is made out of," says Dwight Hegel, Superior Silk Screen.

Hegel says the sign was fun to design, and he's happy he won't have to make repairs, since the roof is guaranteed to be maintenance free for the next 5 years.
