Police Arrest Woman For Fireworks

Posted: Updated:

Police made a rare arrest in Bismarck this weekend. Just before 1:30 a.m. on Saturday, an officer pulled a car over for speeding and no brake light.

On the console of the pulled over car, registered to Anne Kirkham, of Bismarck, there was a pack of Black Cat fireworks and two fireworks on the driver Jimmie Hatcher's lap.

When officers arrested Hatcher, for driving under the influence, Kirkham who was in the passenger's seat, became belligerent. She was then arrested for possession of fireworks within city limits.

The charge of possession is a Class B misdemeanor, and Kirkham could face up to 30 days in jail with fines up to $1,000.

This is not her first offense, last summer Kirham was arrested for simple assault on a peace officer by preventing arrest with contact of body fluids.

Police say they arrest and jail people on misdemeanors if they have a history of being a flight risk or not appearing, which fits Kirkham's record.
