Second Annual Prom Extravaganza

Posted: Updated:
Prom season is still months away but that isn't stopping high-schoolers from showing off some dresses and tux's tonight in Mandan.

The Second Annual Prom Extravaganza style show is taking place right now at the Best Western plus Seven Seas. 46 student models were provided dresses and tuxedos by Meriweather Trade and gift shop, which is the organizer of the show.

More than 60 local businesses are sponsors. And organizers say the show is all about putting a spotlight on the Mandan community.

"Our business is here in mandan so we're just trying to bring the spotlight here a little bit more and letting people know that there's something more than just the 4th of July, buggies and blues and the girls are so into it and the parents and another thing to it that we're so connected with the girls and it's such an opportunity for them," says organizer, Roma Newton.

Modeling and acting scouts came from New York and California for the event.
