Minot Organizations Support Giving Hearts Day

Posted: Updated:

The 7th Annual Giving Hearts Day is officially underway. For the second year, Minot was selected to participate in the 24-hour online fundraising event put on by The Impact Foundation.

The Dakota Medical Foundation and other community donors will match online donations of $10 or more made through impactgiveback.org. Visit Minot will donate $1 for every comment left on the Visit Minot Giving Hearts blog post. The donations will be given to participating organizations.

"It gives us an opportunity to partner with the community and these organizations. Several of the organizations are tourism impacted, so we were very excited to be able to partner with them in a new way and create more awareness for the event as well," says Visit Minot executive director Wendy Howe.

Many of the organizations receiving the donations already have plans for where the money will go.

Sana Keller, a member of the YWCA Board of Directors says the goal is to be able to continue providing the services that the emergency shelter gives to area women and children. The services include a safe environment, a warm bed, food to eat and resources that they need to help them get back on their feet.

You can leave your comments on the Visit Minot blog up until 11:59 p.m. tonight and you can also log onto impact give back dot org to make a donation.
