Bakeries Experience Valentine's Day Rush

Posted: Updated:

Flower shops aren't the only businesses feeling the Valentine's Day rush. Bakeries are stocking up on eggs, flour and sugar. And Sweet Treats Cupcake Bar and Bakery is no exception.

The downtown business has already taken more than 60 orders for Valentine's Day. And 40 of them are deliveries. All of the cupcakes will be baked on Friday. Staff will make fresh treats all day, starting at 4:30 in the morning.

"We'll be baking around the clock. So, you'll constantly see us baking that day, just so we can have everything fresh out of the oven, even just for those walk-ins. Last year, we served about 90 different walk-ins that day as well. So, we will have a lot of walk-in things available, too," says Rachel Allerdings.

Allerdings estimates she'll use about 50 dozen eggs and more than 50 pounds of flour to fill the orders.

The bakery offers 10 Valentine's Day specials, including their signature cupcakes.
