Graco Company Recalls Carseats

Posted: Updated:

If you're a parent of a small child you should check your car seat. More than three and a half million seats have been recalled by Graco.

The company says the issue has to do with some harness buckles becoming more difficult to open over time or getting stuck in the latched position due to food and liquid spills. The recall is voluntary and includes all toddler convertible car seats and harnessed booster seats manufactured from 2009 to July 2013.

Graco says this does not in any way affect the performance of the car seat or the effectiveness of the buckle to restrain the child.

"If people are worried, or if they have sticky buckle, I would recommend checking the owners manual for all car seats to determine how to clean it if you can. Some car seat companies say absolutely not to submerge them in cleaning fluids and things like that. So, call Greco if you're in question," says director Dawn Mayer, Child Passenger Safety Program.

There have been no injuries reported due to the harness issue. Graco will replace the buckle for anyone who has noticed a problem.
