Brine Release Contained in McKenzie County

Posted: Updated:

A brine release has been reported, by RIM Operating Inc, to the North Dakota Department of Health. The department is on its way to the release near Alexander now.

The company says that 250 barrels of salt water was released in the area, some of which escaped the location and ran into an iced-over drainage by the Lonesome Creek. However, public water supplies are not threatened.

The release has been contained and crews are coordinating clean up and 95 barrels of brine have already been recovered.

For more information contact the North Dakota Department of Health 701-328-5236.
