From greeting cards and candy, to jewelry
and flowers, Valentine's Day is one of the biggest gift-giving holidays of the
year. The National Retail Federation expects the average shopper to spend
about $134 on their loved one this year.
Phones have been ringing off the
hook all day at Artistic Ambiance in Minot.
"It's a very busy time,"
says Tammy Holen, Artistic Ambiance owner. "It's an extremely

away, floral shops have been busy unloading trucks, pre-cutting and arranging
flowers in preparation for the big day.
"This is the
busiest day because everyone wants it on Valentine's Day," says Holen.
According to a recent survey by the
National Retail Federation, about 54 percent of consumers plan to celebrate the
romantic holiday this year.
"Most every guy the first thing
out of their mouths is usually roses, a dozen roses sent out," says Holen.
Last year, Artistic Ambiance actually
ran out of flowers. But, this year, they ordered more to
hopefully meet the demand of all customers.
"We had guys coming in at the
end of the day and we were completely sold out," says Holen. "So
pre-order. Stop at your flower shop beforehand and get it booked."
While most gift-givers plan to buy
candy and greeting cards for their sweetheart, 37 percent of people say they
will be ordering flowers this Valentine's Day. For North
Dakota residents, the average price for a dozen roses and delivery is
