Cobb Appears In Court

Posted: Updated:

A white separatist from Leith remains in jail today, and if he does get out, he might not have anywhere to go.

Craig Cobb appeared in South Central Judicial Court today for his pretrial hearing, but he wasn't there for very long.

The hearing lasted only a few minutes. The two sides have been negotiating a possible plea deal.

Cobb's attorney asked Judge Gail Hagerty to set a trial date but leave three weeks open to continue those talks. The victims say they hope a deal would at least include some jail time for Cobb.

"He needs to go to prison and learn his lesson, and this will set a precedent for any of the rest of the neo-nazi, white nations people from coming into North Dakota. That's pretty much what we would like to see," says Greg Bruce, Leith.

The attorney for the terrorizing victims says the earliest a trial would be is late spring or early summer. But Cobb probably won't be returning to Leith anytime soon.

A Carson man bought his home today. He was able to buy it because Cobb failed to install sewage lines or running water in the 30-day time limit from Custer Health.
