New Health Clinic Opening In Minot

Posted: Updated:

A trip to the doctor or to the emergency room could be pretty pricey.

But a new health clinic opening in Minot is offering affordable healthcare to low income residents in the community.

Chris Whited always dreamed of being in the medical field. After serving in the United States the Air Force working as a respiratory therapist in the intensive care unit, Whited decided he still wanted to do more.

"And we thought about where we really want to be and it's right here. Right in North Dakota. In Minot," says Whited.

Whited and his family moved to Minot in 2008 hoping to provide patient care to the community.

"There is a need for medical care and especially for those people who live kind of right there on the edge of I make just enough to get by and too much for some programs, but not enough to really pay for other programs," says Whited.

Northland Community Health Center offers reduced fees based on a person's income.

"It's very important to help us provide quality care at the personal level. Your not just a number; an account number to us. You are our friends and we are here to help you anyway that we can," says Patrick Butler, CEO of Northland Community Health Center.

When picking their location for their business they drove around Minot for quite some time until they landed on the Arrowhead Shopping Center.

"I chose Minot with the recovery from the flood here and the impact," says Butler.

With exactly one week before the clinic opens to the public, there are still a few last minute details left to do.

Between touching up the rooms, to installing fixtures, crews are working around the clock to prepare for their patients.

The clinic opens Wednesday, February 12th.

Northland Community Health Clinic is located in the Arrowhead Shopping Center. To schedule an appointment, you can contact them at 852-4600.
