Senate Passes Farm Bill

Posted: Updated:

After years of discussion, Congress has finally sent a five-year farm bill to the president for his approval.

The Senate passed the nearly $1 trillion bill earlier today with 72 votes. One of the requirements in the bill is that all meat include labeling that tell consumers where their food was born, raised, and slaughtered.

"This is really good news for our farmers and ranchers and it's taken a lot of work. But, we've passed a long term five-year farm bill. And they can go out and do what they do best, which is provide the highest quality, lowest cost, food supply in the world that benefits every single American," says Senator Hoeven.

The president is expected to sign the bill.
