Reading Month Kicks Off at Pioneer

Posted: Updated:

February is reading month for the Pioneer Elementary, today's kick off assembly featured the North Dakota National Guard encouraging students to read.

Kindergarten through fifth grade students each brought a book they promised to begin reading this month. Students danced and sang "Gotta Keep Reading" to pump themselves up for the month.

"What a neat way to kick off reading month. It's right there in your hands. The teachers have been very supportive, we've been looking on the song and will support for the entire month of reading," says Marcia Wilkens, Pioneer School Reading Specialist.

School administrators say reading month breaks up the school day after winter break.
