MDU Creates Bill Balancing Program

Posted: Updated:

When the temperature plummets, your heating bills can sky rocket.

MDU says customers can see big swings in their heating bills during cold days, and during the summer for electricity costs. Yet through their bill balance program, customers can pay a more consistent bill based off of their previous usage.

"And so it kind of mitigates the big swings in your bill. In the summer and the winter months on really hot days or really cold days. If you're just paying on a month by month basis for what you use you can have some pretty big swings in your bill," says Mark Hanson, Spokesman MDU.

The program is free to join, and Hanson says your bills can vary from month to month, but will stay closer to a consistent rate.

Our energy reporter Mary Cate Mannion will have more on the bill balancing program tonight.
