Bagel Bar Brings Variety to Dickinson

Posted: Updated:

Business is booming in Dickinson for a new restaurant that caters to the breakfast and lunch crowd. This cafe is the first bagel shop in Dickinson. Mandy's Bagel Bar offers tons of delicious, homemade bagel options in a family atmosphere.

When Amanda Wilson decided to open a bagel shop in Dickinson. She knew it would fill a big hole in the community.

"I was going to college in Rapid City, and there was a bagel shop right across the street. And when I finally decided to try one, I ate one every day. Dickinson just didn't have one, so I started asking people what they thought of it and everybody thought it would be something that was very welcome in the community so I went with it," says Wilson.

But Wilson never realized just how popular Mandy's Bagel Bar would be.

"We are so excited that we have a new bagel shop in town, a real bagel shop. It offers us more opportunities for different choices for food in our communities and they are great, they taste so good," says customer Stacey Kilwein.

It was so busy on the first day that Wilson's husband Sam came in to help.

"The parking lot was just full, there was a line all the way back to the door and I was like 'Holy Cow!' and she's like can you help on the register? So, I just hopped in and was helping her out," says Sam Wilson, Mandy's Bagel Bar.

Mandy's Bagel Bar offers 21 different kinds of bagels, on top of homemade soups and smoothies.

"A lot of people that have come in, a lot of people that have moved here are really used to it in their communities that they've lived in previously, so I think a lot of them have really looked forward to seeing something like this in town," says Sam.

Everything here is made from scratch, and there's 30 different types of cream cheese spreads that make it less likely people in Dickinson will be skipping breakfast anytime soon.

Even though they just opened, Wilson says she's already looking forward to expanding. She says she wants to add a location in North Dickinson and eventually put one in Watford City or Williston. Mandy's is open weekdays from 6 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Saturdays from 6 a.m. to 2 p.m.
