IRS Announces Filing Delay

Posted: Updated:

You may be getting your tax refund a little later this year.

The IRS announced a new processing date for individual income tax returns. They will not take any returns until January 31. This is 10 days later than the original date of January 21. Since the government sequester back in October, there is a back log of paperwork. Representatives at H&R Block say, it doesn't matter if you send them in online or the old fashioned way.

"It makes no difference if you e-file your return or mail them in, the IRS is not accepting anything until January 31," says Mary Ann Binder, H&R Block.

If you have any questions about the filing date, you can visit the North Dakota Tax Department website at www.nd.gov/tax
