Bismarck Students March in Washington

Posted: Updated:

Among those marchers in Washington today were more than 90 students from St. Mary's High School, along with others from Minot and Dickinson.

Two St. Mary's students sounded very excited. Both say they would watch the march on TV, but today would be their first time participating, and they couldn't wait.

Leaving late last week, more than 90 St. Mary's high school students boarded buses headed to Washington D.C. for the March for Life rally.

Students from Trinity High School and Bishop Ryan also went along for the trip.

"It's been awesome to get together with them and share ideas, you know, our beliefs. Very uplifting and very joyful," says senior Danielle Engelhardt.

Although this is a Pro-life rally, there was no exclusion, if any student wanted to go on the trip, they were happily invited. Teachers say this is a learning experience.

"Take them to our nation's capitol where this, where abortion was legalized 41 years ago. And to say, you know, here's our world responding to 41 years of abortion," says Religion teacher, Nick Emmel.

Although the weather wasn't ideal, many still felt it was a perfect day.

"I'm very excited. I had grown up watching this on the Eternal World Television Network. It's really cold, a little snow never hurt any North Dakota people," says junior John Windsor.

Already students are looking forward to next year.

Although the bus trip was long, many students say it was well worth the drive.
