Police Tie Washington Murder to Watford City Man

Posted: Updated:

A murder in Spokane, Washington, last month may have ties to North Dakota. On December 15, a businessman was shot and killed in his home. And there was no apparent connection between Doug Carlile and the man police say shot him.

The oil boom has drawn a lot of people to North Dakota. Along with all of the new business and Watford City, is no exception. This small town sees overwhelming amounts of oil traffic, and new faces daily. Crime has become a common fixture.

"The crime rate has gone up for theft, vandalism and drugs. Crime rate has gone up extensively," says Watford City resident Sandi Davis.

James Henrikson, of Watford City, has been linked to the murder of a Spokane, Washington man, Doug Carlile. Henrikson and Carlile were business partners in the oil industry. Henrikson told detectives Carlile owed him over a million dollars. Henrikson also is linked to a previous murder.

"I heard a little bit on Tuesday about them. There was a raid out North of town. Nobody knew what was going on, and then this morning they had it on the news. Something about they were looking for a guy that was up for murder," says Watford City resident, Rick Spletstoser.

The FBI raided Henriksons house on Wednesday. While he is not the shooter, it is believed he hired Timothy Suckow to commit the murder.

"Usually, we hear just about everything around here, it's a small town," says Watford City resident, Patrick Young.

"Word gets around pretty quickly around here. I didn't really here much about it. But I heard about something six months ago, something that involved the FBI, but I've never heard about the Wednesday incident,' says Watford City resident, Jessica Fara.

Police are still working to connect Henrikson and Suckow in this crime.
