Machine Helps Impaired Vote

Posted: Updated:

The next election isn't until June, but that isn't stopping some people from learning how technology can help them cast their ballot.

At Touchmark today residents were testing out the voting machines, and seeing if it is something they would be able to use.

Your never too old to learn something new, especially if it can help you with your right as a citizen to help pick who represents you.

"You really can't stress the importance enough of being able to vote and having that privacy of your voting. It's one of the the things that we really hold dear," says Chief Operating Officer, Scott Weissman.

The machine works by magnifying the ballot and making it easier to read.

"It's a marking device. So, you'll see the ballot up on the screen and then you're able to, you know for someone with vision loss, we can change the contrast on that to make it a little bit easier to see," says Weissman.

The technology has been available in the state for almost ten years, but it's just now becoming more widely available.
