Judge Sentences Man Charged with Murder

Posted: Updated:

One of the men charged in the murder of Bismarck teen John Swain was sentenced to life in prison with the possibility of parole.

Theo Crowe, 26, pleaded guilty to conspiracy to commit murder back in October. Judge Donald Jorgensen imposed the sentence for Crowe this morning.

The prosecution cited many reasons for why life in prison was pursued, including Crowe's history of drug use.

Crowe's co-defendant, Joshua Clark, 20, pleaded not guilty. His trial will be in March.

Swain was reported missing in May. Authorities say the two hit Swain on the head with a hammer in Crowe's apartment and then hid his body.

Investigators found Swain's body in Montana last June.
