Cold Weather Doesn't Cause Colds

Posted: Updated:

Sneezing, coughing and muscle aches are all symptoms of the common cold.

But, did winter weather factor how you got that cold? The simple answer is no. Cold weather isn't what is necessarily causing your cold.

"It goes without saying, when the temperature is low, they are more likely to thrive and people are more likely to congregate together. So, it's easy to spread," says Dr. Casmiar Nwaigwe, Trinity Health.

The best ways to protect yourself and the people around you are by washing your hands frequently and covering your cough.
