Sunrise Students Enjoy the Mild Weather

Posted: Updated:
If you drove by Jaycee Park in Bismarck today, you were probably wondering why it was so packed.

Students from Sunrise Elementary school bundled up and enjoyed the mild winter weather by sledding and skating with friends and family. The Sunrise Elementary PTO hosted the event and was pleased with the turnout after having to postpone because of last weekends weather. Sunrise's principal says that today's event is a way for the school to feel more like a community.

"This is our fourth annual year as a school," says principal, Lynn Wolf. "We brought kids together from many different buildings and we've worked on developing that community, so that we can be one community, one area, one school. And this has worked very well for us to have family events that are no cost or very little cost to the family. They can just come together and get to know each other. The kids get to know each other, the kids get to know each other a little bit better, in a different situation than school."

Today was the third annual Winterfest for Sunrise Elementary.
