Celebrity Lends Voice to Tourism Campaign

Posted: Updated:

North Dakota Tourism wants more people to visit the state. They unveiled their 2014 campaign earlier today. And, if you listen closely, you might hear a familiar voice.

It's a voice you've probably heard before. And now, it's the voice of North Dakota Tourism. It belongs to actor and Minot native Josh Duhamel.

"I'm proud of my home state, and I was truly honored when they asked me to be the voice of their newest Legendary advertising campaign," says actor Josh Duhamel.

The actor narrates six television ads that encourage tourists to experience North Dakota.

"We're really excited about our partnership with him. We chose him not only because he's a celebrity, although his fan base is tremendous and should help us get additional coverage, but also because of his genuine love for the state, the fact that his voice fit really well with the stunning imagery, and it was just a really good fit," says director Sara Otte-Coleman, Tourism Division.

The $2.5 million campaign focuses on the beauty and excitement that can be found across the state.

In addition to TV commercials, the campaign includes a series of print ads, a newly designed Travel Guide and a Hunting and Fishing Guide.

The campaign continues to use the Legendary brand, which has proven highly successful in recent years. Governor Jack Dalrymple says he's proud of the job North Dakota Tourism has done.

"I think you have to consider this ad campaign, the Legendary brand, and the work that's going on to be really very, very successful and one of the best campaigns clearly in the country," says Dalrymple.

Last year's campaign brought more than 1.4 million people to the state and generated more than $230 million in visitor spending.

And now, a celebrity is inviting others to fall in love with the place he calls home.

The ads will run in several upper Midwestern states.
