Don't Buy It Until We Try It: My Pillow

Posted: Updated:

Last week, we put MyPillow to the test. But, in an email from Joe Trentacosta with Steinreich Communications he says, "You did not mention putting MyPillow in the dryer for 15-20 minutes as the instructions state. I fear that it is an inaccurate review of the product."

So, we wanted to give MyPillow one more chance to live up to its claim to fame.

Last week, when we tried out MyPillow, we forgot one of the most important steps for first time use.

Hampton Inn Manager Amanda Shappell says, "Put in a warm dryer for 15-20 minutes. This will activate the fill to expand to maximum comfort and not to use pillow protectors on it as well."

We just put MyPillow in the dryer, and it still has a few minutes left. Then, we will find out if it actually works.

Once the 15 minutes was up, it was time to pull it out of the dryer.

"How does it feel?  A lot fluffier, but still kind of a unique texture to it," says Shappell.

It still seemed a bit lumpy to Shappell. But, before we could give it a thumbs up or a thumbs down, it was time to try out.

Shappell says, "It's comfortable.  I'm not sure if it's more comfortable than a standard pillow.  It's much better, after the dryer than before."

So, can we rest easy on MyPillow?

Shappell says, "Well, compared to before the heat made a difference, but I would still say thumbs down."

We tested MyPillow with someone who works in the hospitality industry on a daily basis, but you may have different results for at home use.  But, ultimately choosing a pillow is based on personal preference.  While it did feel fluffier, we didn't notice any big difference between a regular pillow and MyPillow.
