People Prepare for Life Threatening Cold Temperatures

Posted: Updated:

Life threatening, subzero temperatures are expected to this weekend.

It may be warmer outside right now, but come tomorrow, it's going to be a different story, especially with the life-threatening extreme cold temperatures we're getting. So, we decided to hit the grocery store to see how people are preparing for the storm.

"Going to huddle down and stay warm," says Colleen Kraft.

"I plan on staying in, because they did say it would be, like, deadly force of -60 degrees," says Nate Joern.

"Staying in. Going to stay in and watch church on TV Sunday morning instead of going," says Janice Perlichek.

Hibernation seems to be the trend this weekend. Even the native North Dakotans are planning on staying indoors, but they're taking advantage of the warmer temperatures today to stock up for the big blizzard.

"I got my water for my coffee, so that's all I need," says Perlichek.

"I'm doing everything now. [I] might do some baking, because I didn't get any Christmas baking done. So, I'm going to do my own thing for the next few days," says Kraft.

The necessities like bread, eggs and milk are already flying off the shelves, leaving a busy day for employees.

"I think everybody's kind of worried, because most people have cell phones, and mine's been going off for blizzard warnings for a least a day now. So, if it's doing that we know its coming," says Kraft.

The National Weather Service says it's best for residents to stay inside this weekend. The frigid temperatures are very severe and could cause hypothermia and frostbite within five minutes.
