Schools Prepare for Dangerously Cold Weather

Posted: Updated:

North Dakotans may not be accustomed to Monday morning's expected temperatures.

The wind chill may reach 60 below. School districts are considering the possibility of canceling school. But until then, bus drivers plan to run as usual, and students need to dress warm.

"We're also notifying the students, as they get off the bus today, to make sure to stay inside on the group stops. Our drivers will make sure that they stay an extended period of time. This will make sure all students get there. And then they don't have to wait outside in the cold," says Lee Knudsvig, Harlow's Transportation Operations Manager

The National Weather Service says in such conditions, people run the risk of frostbite within five minutes if not properly protected.
