Minot Crews Respond to Condo Fire

Posted: Updated:

Late Friday evening, emergency crews responded to a fire at a townhome complex in southeast Minot that left several families homeless.  But, thanks to a local hotel, victims have a roof over their head, at least for the time being.

When crews arrived on the scene at around 11:20 p.m., they saw smoke coming from the 16-home complex, and the townhomes was evacuated. The Red Cross provided services to six evacuated families.

As part of the Rooms for Red Cross Program, the Minot Four Points by Sheraton has been providing accommodations to those affected by the fire. They say it's one way to be involved in the community and help those in need.

"We had a couple with a young baby, and you could just see that they have enough worries that if we can take some worry away from them, that's the key thing," says general manager David Wick.

Due to the heavy smoke damage, residents will not be able to move back into their homes.  According to one of the residents, she says they will be moving into the units across the street.
