Chilly Temps Aren't Stopping Skiers

Posted: Updated:

For the past few weeks temperatures have been drastically fluctuating, but that hasn't kept skiers from hitting the slopes.

Huff Hills in Mandan was bustling today with skiers and snow boarders, even though the temperature has dropped 40 degrees in the past 24 hours. Huff Hills was able to open early in December because of the unusually cold weather and it has been busy ever since.

"Almost everything we do out here is so tied into weather, that we get affected by the weather a ton, but you know, with snow making and operations we deal with it and as far as people coming out, I think the people out here are used to it, we dress differently and pick the nice days to come, so we kind of just roll right through it," says Huff Hills manager, Andy Beck.

Beck says that Friday was probably the busiest day of the season, and even though temperatures are back around zero today, it's not a bad thing.
"We're going to make use of this cold with some snow making, finishing that up and we'll just roll right through January and February and hopefully we'll get some nice warm sunny weekends after that," says Beck.

Huff Hills is hosting a torch light event on New Years Eve which starts at 7 PM, for more information you can visit www.huffhills.com.
