ND Safety Council Offers Winter Driving Course

Posted: Updated:

When the roads are slushy and slippery, drivers need to be prepared for anything and everything that can happen.

Because North Dakota's weather is unpredictable and can change in minutes, The North Dakota Safety Council is offering a Slippery Slope course throughout the state to teach drivers how to handle the roads.

This class is designed to teach new drivers how to handle the wheel once bad weather strikes and act as a refresher for those experienced North Dakota drivers.

"98% of all traffic collisions are preventable. If the wind blows trees on top of your car if you're driving down the highway, that's an accident. That's an act of nature. But, if you're driving 75 miles an hour on ice and your vehicle slides off the road, that's not an accident. That's a crash or collision because you were driving too fast for the road conditions," says Don Moseman, ND Safety Council Program Director.

Classes will be offered beginning in January throughout the state. For more information on how you can sign up, you can log onto www.ndsc.org.
