Minot Police Enforce Firework Ordinance

Posted: Updated:

With the upcoming New Year, the Minot Police Department wants to remind residents of their firework ordinance within city limits.

With a lot of visitors coming in for the holidays, the Minot PD wants to remind residents that the use and possession of fireworks is against the city ordinance.

"It's disruptive. People are lighting them off. They're not lighting them off in the afternoon, they're lighting them off when it gets dark, and that's when a lot of people are trying to sleep. They have to work, and it's disruptive to have fireworks going off until midnight," says Todd Haman, Minot PD Crime Prevention Senior Officer.

Storing, selling or manufacturing of fireworks will result in a citation and a $150 fine.
