Police Arrest Deceptive Panhandler

Posted: Updated:

A panhandler got more than just spare change this weekend. Bismarck police say Saturday afternoon an officer on patrol approached a man leaning against a pole with a sign which said "Merry Christmas, Homeless." When asked to provide identification, the man refused. The officer arrested the man and noticed he had $187 cash in his coat.

When he was taken to jail, the man said he would post bond. He then pulled out $760 from his pants pocket and posted bail.

Police ran an identification check and found out the mans name is Thomas Seymour, a 61-year-old from Bismarck who has a local address and vehicle.

Police say he's this is his fifth time being arrested.
