Dealerships Sell More in Winter

Posted: Updated:

It's been said before, the end of the year is the best time to buy a new vehicle.  But, is there really any truth behind that?

According to car experts, typically at the end the year, dealerships have annual quotas and sales they need to make.

So, manufacturers usually run extra promotions, year-end close-outs, and extra rebates this time of year to help move inventory, so dealerships can bring in new makes and models.

Often times, people think the winter is a slow time at dealerships, but that's not the case in North Dakota.

"The months are all close and similar and just, yeah, some months are better than others that is just how the month goes.  The trend, at least for us, and around here, is more even the entire year," says Keith Sem, Westlie Motor Co. General Sales Manager.

At Westlie Motor Co., Sem says the Ford F150 is the most popular vehicle on their lot.  On average, they sell about 40-50 each month.
