Students Give Back at St. Luke's Nursing Home

Posted: Updated:

It's the season of giving... But not everyone will be getting a special gift on Christmas.

That's why Lincoln Elementary fifth-graders are giving back to those who might be lonely during the holiday season.

"The people that don't have family to come and they don't get gifts over Christmas," says student, Reese Mack. "It's just a better thing so they can get a gift over Christmas and they can hear us caroling."

The students were at Saint Luke's nursing home in Dickinson Friday morning. They brought gifts for every resident and sang Christmas carols.

"It's very meaningful," says activity director, Joyce Decker. "Many of them, their children live out of state and to be able to see young children come and caroling like that brings back a lot of great members for them one of the greatest gifts of Christmas is seeing the children and being able to sharing the joy with them."

It's been a Lincoln holiday tradition for many years.

"It teaches us the gift of giving and it warms our hearts to be able to share close to our neighborhood school," says music specialist, Yvette Schubert.

"It's nice to have a bunch of children come here and see people," says resident, Susan Kubik. "It's precious."

Santa gave the gifts out to residents at the Saint Luke's Christmas party.
