Layaway Angels Paying Off Merchandise

Posted: Updated:

The Christmas season is all about giving and helping people in need.  And, thanks to anonymous donors in the area, some Minot kids were unwrapping toys and clothes this Christmas.

For five years now, layaway angels have been showing up at Kmart stores across the country.

While there's no official start day, "the angels" have been showing up all holiday season in Minot to help families struggling to pay off layaway merchandise.

"A lady came in and she said, you know, I don't have much, but I have enough.  And, she paid off a $400 layaway that was filled with kid's toys and just that comment, I don't have a lot, but I have enough, you know that gets to you.  And, it really kind of reminds you and let's you know there are still a lot of great people out there in the world," says Mike Wilson, Minot Kmart Manager.

The biggest layaway paid off at the Minot Kmart by an angel was a $1,000 order.
