Slumberland Furniture Donates Beds

Posted: Updated:

This time of year, it's all about giving. That's why Slumberland Furniture in Minot is teaming up with Community Action to donate beds to children this holiday season.

Throughout this week, part of the Making Homes for the Holidays program, Slumberland Furniture will be donating 16 mattresses and box springs to ensure children get a goodnight's sleep.

Workers from the company will be putting in extra hours to deliver the brand new beds.

And, they say seeing their reaction makes it all worthwhile.

"The kids are just overjoyed when we show up. They're here! They're here! They're here! Our mattress is here here!' So, that's really exciting to be able to bring a little holiday spirit to those that may not have it every year, is pretty exciting," says Emily Mackner, Slumberland Furniture.

"I always tell everybody I'm guaranteed to cry at least twice every Christmas," says Janelle Roy, Community Action Specialist. " Its because it's just so amazing to see the families and how happy they are when they get the bed."

Overall, Slumberland will be donating 200 beds this year.
