Travelers Pay Less at the Pump

Posted: Updated:

If you plan to do any traveling for the holiday, your trip will probably be less expensive if you plan to take the car. Gas prices across North Dakota are getting lower by the day.

Filling up at the pump isn't as bad as it used to be.

Eugene Graner with Heartland Investor Services says the decline in prices has to do with several factors.

"The Syrian crisis last summer that pushed prices up when we saw gas prices in the upper three, that's mitigated, has died down," says Eugene Graner.

And another reason that drivers are paying less at the pump is because the type of blend used during the winter is different from the summer.

"And that's cheaper to produce. And the third factor, that it's that seasonal time of year. Less driving taking place, less demand, lowers the price of gasoline,"says Eugene Graner.

And drivers aren't complaining about having to spend a little less.

"It helps a lot, my pickup is not so expensive to fill no more,"says Peter Wiese.

"Well it's helpful for everybody, everybody's pocketbook,"says Phyllis Golz

Currently, prices in the Bismarck area are around $3.09 for regular unleaded. Much cheaper than back in June, when they were well over $4 a gallon.
