University Holds Nursing Scholarship Day

Posted: Updated:

Minot State University students took part in the Nursing Scholarship Day that was held in Ann Nicole Nelson Hall.

Each of the classes was responsible for a specific project. Various amount of work goes into preparing for theses topics. Some subjects discussed, were patient safety and improving overall health care quality.

This research gives nursing students a close connection to what it's like in the medical field.

"Nursing is really full of life learning. You never stop. And part of that is finding things that work to make nursing better," says Erin Guerin, student. "So, we don't just do things because it's how it's always done. We have to do research to make sure evidence is there that we're providing the best care for our patients."

"You're not just a nurse in a hospital, you're also a nurse in a community. So, there has to be some level of care people in the community, and for what other people are going through. And, some level of compassion. So, it's really nice to actually be engaged with that," says Charice Cheanzaro, student.

"It will be nice and it will feel very rewarding knowing that everything that we worked so hard to help with and also knowing that our research can continue to be used with semesters below us." Kelsey Wunderlich, student.

Students worked closely with Trinity Hospital and St. Alexis Medical Center to enhance their research.
