City Hosts Transportation Open House

Posted: Updated:

With more people living in Minot, there's more traffic on city streets, which causes frequent back-ups and delays.  To help make getting from one end of town to the other more efficient, the city is holding its first open house tonight to gather input for a long-range transportation plan.

Since May, the city along with Ward County and the North Dakota Department of Transportation, has been working to develop the 2035 Minot Transportation Plan.

Over the course of several months, SRF Consulting has worked to evaluate and analyze existing conditions and traffic in the city.

Now, they ask the public to comment on the preliminary findings.

"The public input at this stage in the process is very vital.  We want to know what people are seeing, what they see happening in the future, what their concerns are not only now with the existing conditions, but what concerns they may be seeing the future as well," says traffic engineer Stephanie Frizzo. "And to show them the full story of projections that we're looking at and how we can potentially mitigate some of the problems that we're seeing right now."

The meeting will run from 5-7 p.m. tonight.  If you are unable to attend, but would like to provide comments, contact Craig Vaughn at 763-249-6774.  Or, visit the project website at transplan2035.minotnd.org.
