Officers' Wives Host Cookie Drive

Posted: Updated:

It can be tough to be away from friends and family during the holidays.

But, there's a local organization in Minot trying to help spread joy this Christmas season to new airmen at Minot Air Force Base.

The Minot Officers Spouses' Club is sponsoring the annual Airmen Cookie Drive this week  to say thank you to all of the airmen at Minot Air Force Base that serve the country in uniform.

The group hopes to collect 1,500 dozen cookies.  That's 18,000 homemade cookies.

But, it takes a lot of helping hands to make this outreach program possible.

"To stop and think about somebody that's put some special effort and time and actually made cookies homemade for them, it's pretty neat and it's greatly appreciated," says Bruce Carlson, Verendrye Electric Co-Op Manager.

Cookie drop-off locations include the Minot Chamber of Commerce, Verendrye Electric Co-Op in Minot and Velva, and the Jimmy Doolittle Center on Base.

They'll be collecting cookies through December 12th.
