Local Taxi Offers New Features

Posted: Updated:

When you hop in a Bismarck Taxi 9000 vehicle, you might notice something different.

"These new tablets not only reduce 2 way radio noise, but also help the drivers get you from point "A" to point "B" faster and easier," says Taxi 9000 Driver, Michael Zerr.

And soon, Taxi 9000 will use credit card readers in both Bismarck and Minot. Each tablet will be outfitted with a reader like this which simply plugs in to the top.

"If a customer uses the card reader, a receipt will be emailed," says Taxi 9000 Owner, Gary Schumacher.

But what about a tip? Drivers don't seem to be too concerned.

The acquisition of the tablets has added 5% onto the cost of running Taxi 9000.
But Schumacher says fares will stay the same.

"Customers are really going to like it," says Schumacher.

The tablets have been in use in Bismarck since the middle of November. They will go live next week in Minot and the card readers are expected to be in use for both cities the week of December 16th.

Taxi 9000 has 16 taxi's in Bismarck and 12 in Minot.
