Bike 2 Believe

Posted: Updated:

Joe Berger, Brock Schauer and Devin Coyle decided to bike from Bismarck to St. Petersburg, Florida. They've been training in the colder months inside at the YMCA.
But Joe wanted the group to have a purpose. Each one of them has family members who have been affected by cancer. So they set a lofty goal of raising money along the way to help as many people as they can.

"In order to something great and have an impact on this world, you have to believe, we believe we can raise  $500,000 we believe we are going to help millions of people," says Joe Berger.

The trio has already started selling Bike 2 Believe Tee shirts and bracelets. And they'll be stopping in 12 major cities during the trip to visit with cancer patients.

" We want to have a reason for people to believe and we hope that reason is us," says Devin Coyle.
"I think we can reach our goal and then some with some hard work and determination we're going to do it. No doubt in my mind," says Brock Schauer.

The American Cancer Society says it believes as well. Community relations manager Jill Goetz is a Cancer survivor and lost her father Ken Lamont to the disease. She's seen first hand how acts of kindness can benefit people.

"When you have someone that shows you that support and has the passion for you and cares about you it just makes your spirits feel so much better for them  to do that is amazing and I hope they feel the love from these guys," says Jill Goetz of the American Cancer Society.

The men will first push the pedals at the end of May. They hope to finish two months later in Florida.

The group just received a check from Dakota Community bank yesterday for $15,000.
