Feed the Children Event

Posted: Updated:

More than 17 hundred volunteers turned out to help pack over 400 thousand meals that will be sent to 70 countries throughout the world for today's feed the children event in Minot.

Volunteers from Minot and surrounding communities are packing meal bags with vitamin and mineral supplements, Dehydrated vegetables, Soy protein and rice.  Just one bag can feed a family of five.

"There are places in the world where families don't have food to feed themselves and their children, and that just tears your heart out," says event co-chair, Varla Rostad. "To know that you can give a couple hours of your day and come here, and in a two hour shift you and your team will package a family of five for a year.  I can't think of a word to describe that feeling, but it's just plain good."

The crates of food will be delivered to the Twin Cities AND then  they will then be shipped to countries like Sudan and Afghanistan.
