Drivers Face Winter Roads

Posted: Updated:

Snow and ice cover the roads in Minot, but drivers say it's just another winter day in North Dakota. About 4 ½ inches of snow fell in the Magic City.

The Minot Police Department says most drivers handled the slick conditions within city limits. There were only about 13 minor accidents between yesterday afternoon and this morning.

But, just because it stopped snowing, doesn't mean the roads are in perfect condition.

"When it's as cold as it is, I think this morning it said -6, the sand doesn't have a big impact on those road conditions, because it's so cold that it's not able to melt. The sun comes out today. Yeah, you'll see areas are going to become more manageable, but tonight when the temperatures drop again those are going to become icy," says Captain John Klug.

Captain Klug encourages drivers to still take it slow on the roads.
