Williston Business Donates to Soccer Program

Posted: Updated:

Williston Parks and Recreation youth soccer has received more than 550 dollars in money and equipment from OK Tire stores and the Michelin soccer program. This is the second year the program has been in affect.

The dealers purchase customized soccer balls which are redeemed by children with certificates sent to the local Parks and Rec department. Owner of OK Tires Jon Nelson says it's a great feeling to be involved and help the local soccer program.

"We believe in helping the children and helping the community out. Doing a lot of things for a soccer program that has been struggling, that we believe has been struggling. It's not a lot, it's just giving away a few balls to some kids. But, it still has a great impact on their well being and their lives" explained Nelson.

Ashley Krasicki, from Williston Parks and Rec believes this initiative helps promote the growing local soccer program.

"It kind of helps because this (Williston) isn't a big soccer town. It is great having a small program like this (Michelin) help to get the word out and tell people that we do have soccer programs and are trying to expand a bit" added Krasicki.

OK Tires has given away 120 soccer balls to local children. The initiative will continue until the end of the month.
