A record setting field goal and a defensive stop on a two-point conversion helped Bismarck St. Mary's win the AA Football championship 24-22 over Wahpeton.

The Saints dominated the first half scoring all 24-points. Gus Smrekar threw two touchdowns to Brian Obritsch and Ryan Martire kicked a Dakota Bowl record 43-yard field goal to round out the St.Mary's scoring.

The second half was dominated by Wahpeton. The Huskies scored a touchdown with 1:16 to play to make it 24-22 Saints and on the potential game tieing two-point conversion Noah Krebs made the game winning defensive play.

It's the first state football championship for St.Mary's since 1994.
